A Gentle, Clear, and Hands-On Senior Living Placement Process Built from Personal Experience

When your loved one needs more care—especially memory care—it can feel overwhelming, urgent, and deeply emotional. The placement process shouldn't add to that burden.

As caregivers in our own families, we understand this personally. Jet cared for her former mother-in-law who lived with dementia and Parkinson's, and other loved ones who needed higher levels of support. Because we've walked this road, our senior advisor process is designed to be gentle, clear, and hands-on from the first call through move-in and beyond.

This isn't a one-size-fits-all system. Every family receives concierge-level, personalized attention based on your loved one's personality, medical needs, and care preferences.

Step 1

A Calm, Compassionate First Conversation with Your Senior Advisor

  • What Happens When You Contact Our Supportive Advisors

You reach out by phone, text, email, or our contact form on our website. We schedule a friendly, no-pressure phone or Zoom call—often the same day if needed.

You share what's happening in your own words. Safety concerns, memory changes, caregiver burnout, hospital or rehab discharge pressure, or simply "we don't know where to start." As your senior advisors, Jet and her team listen with the understanding of someone who has walked this road personally.

  • The Support You Receive Right Away

You don't have to figure this out alone or make a dozen stressful phone calls. You get a knowledgeable, dementia-trained advisor who truly listens and understands what you're going through. The relief families feel after this first conversation is often profound—finally, someone who gets it.

This is a no-obligation conversation. No sales pitch, no pressure. Just guidance and counsel from an experienced senior care professional.

Step 2

Gentle, Thorough Initial Senior Care Assessment

What Information Do We Collect?

In a phone, Zoom, or in-person assessment, we gather the details we need to help you wisely. This saves you from repeating your story over and over to different providers.

  • About Your Loved One

    • Age and diagnosis (dementia type, Parkinson's, other conditions)
    • Mobility, balance, fall history, use of walker or wheelchair
    • Memory and cognition, wandering or exit-seeking,
    • Personality, preferences, social style, hobbies, spiritual or cultural needs

  • Care Needs

    • Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence
    • Medication management, diabetic care, oxygen, cueing and response
    • Nighttime needs and supervision

  • Current Situation and Safety

    • Where they live now and what's working or not
    • Recent hospitalizations, rehab stays, or rapid changes
    • Caregiver stress level and family support

  • Move-In Paperwork Support (LIC 602A)

As part of this assessment and our white-glove move-in preparation, we guide families through the required LIC 602A Physician's Report, along with the medication list and TB test. These documents are mandated by the State of California government for all Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Board & Care homes and are used to confirm care levels and determine monthly care rates.

We assist you with understanding what is needed, requesting the forms from the physician, and coordinating with both you and the community so everything is completed correctly and on time—helping ensure move-in is smooth and not delayed.

  • The Value This Creates for You

We do the "intake work" for you as your dedicated senior advisor. This saves you from repeating your story over and over and helps us protect your time, money, and energy by matching you only with appropriate options. This resource saves families countless hours of research and stress.

Step 3

Professional Fit as Your Senior Living Advisor

How Do We Evaluate Care Level, Location, and Budget Fit?

Drawing on Jet's dementia training and experience as a senior living advisor, our assessment, and the Physician's Statement/602, we determine the safest and most supportive level of care.

We consider whether assisted living, memory care, or a smaller board-and-care home is the right fit. We evaluate specialized memory care for seniors who have a diagnosis of dementia, need secure environments, structured routines, and dementia-trained staff.

We ensure the location aligns with your priorities, staying close to family, physicians, hospitals, or familiar neighborhoods. We screen senior living communities based on your realistic budget so you're not touring places that are out of reach. Our guidance follows industry standards and policy while staying focused on your family's unique needs.

How This Protects You

We help you understand pricing structures, explore care costs, and determine if you’re eligible for financial assistance, so you can make fully informed decisions.

You avoid touring communities that don't fit and wasting emotional energy on places that were never going to work. Your time and emotional energy are precious. Our advisor program provides clarity on the full range of options available.

Step 4

Curated Shortlist from Your Senior Housing Advisor

How Do We Create Your Shortlist?

We don't just run a quick online search. As your senior advisor, we use local knowledge, professional relationships, and hands-on vetting to provide personalized recommendations.

Our Approach Includes:

  • Local knowledge and relationships

We regularly visit senior living communities and talk with staff, residents, and families. We offer more locations, more support than National Services.

  • Professional tools

We use secure referral platforms and internal tracking to stay updated on availability, care capabilities, and pricing ranges. We Stay up-to-date with each RCFE's State License, yearly inspections and if they have any complaints.

  • Hands-on vetting

    • Care capabilities for dementia, Parkinson's, behaviors, and medical needs
    • Staffing patterns and leadership stability
    • Activity programming, engagement, and overall feel
    • Cleanliness, safety, layout, and accessibility
    • Your loved one's wish list and concerns

We then present you with a personalized list, never a generic or automated list. Each recommendation is tailored to your loved one's personality, social style, and specific care requirements. We discuss with you why each RCFE was chosen for your loved one based on years of experience with assisted living communities, memory care facilities, and home care providers.

What You Receive

You get a tailored, vetted set of options based on real insight and experience. Whether it's assisted living, memory care, independent living, or a board-and-care home, each option reflects careful consideration of your family's unique situation.

  • How Are Tours Scheduled and Accompanied?

We coordinate tours that work with your schedule and energy level. As your personal senior living placement advisor, Jet accompanies you in person whenever possible—especially for memory care placements.

Before touring, we help you prepare with key questions to ask, what to look for in interactions and engagement, and what features indicate quality care. We review red flags and positive indicators to observe.

We also assist with virtual tours for long-distance families who cannot be physically present.

  • The Confidence This Provides

You walk into each tour confident and supported, not overwhelmed. You know what to observe, what questions matter most, and what details indicate quality care. Jet's presence as your advisor ensures you don't miss anything important. We handle the negotiations so there's no sales pressure.
